Plung Cookies Protocol
This Cookies Protocol explains how Plung (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies, local storage, and similar browser state mechanisms when you access or use our website, API, developer console, and all related services (collectively, the “Services”). This protocol should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.

1. Overview
Plung uses a narrow, minimal set of browser state mechanisms. We do not set third-party advertising or tracking cookies. The cookies and storage mechanisms we use are strictly necessary for the operation of the Services as described below.
2. Authenticated Session Cookie
When a developer logs in to the Plung console, we set a single httpOnly session cookie to maintain the authenticated server-side session. This cookie has the following characteristics:
- It is marked as httpOnly and is not accessible to client-side JavaScript.
- It is cleared upon logout or session expiry.
- It is only set for authenticated developer accounts. Anonymous visitors to the public shortening service do not receive this cookie.
- It is used solely for session authentication and is not used for tracking, advertising, or analytics purposes.
3. Local Browser Storage
For anonymous visitors who use the public URL shortening service, we store a record of recently created links in your browser's local storage. This data:
- Remains on your device at all times and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Exists solely so that the same browser can recall links it recently created, for your convenience.
- Can be cleared at any time through your browser's settings or by clearing site data for this domain.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Plung does not set third-party advertising or tracking cookies. However, our third-party payment processor may set cookies during the billing checkout flow to facilitate payment processing and fraud prevention. Those cookies are governed by the payment processor's own privacy policy and are outside the control of Plung.
5. Managing Cookies & Local Storage
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. You may choose to block or delete cookies; however, doing so may affect your ability to use certain features of the Services, including the developer console.
To remove locally stored link history from your browser, you may clear site storage for this domain through your browser's privacy or site settings.
6. Changes to This Protocol
We may update this Cookies Protocol from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised protocol.
